Most students go to a search engine right away for research, since that seems like an easy way to find information. However, after you sift through all those websites that have nothing to do with your topic, you may find that you've wasted a lot of time. If you take a little time first and find some sites having to do with academic research, you may learn that your job of researching online can become much quicker and easier.

• Yahoo research
• New York Public Library (library card # required for most online research)
• Library of Congress
• The New York Times (registration required)
• Google (the only search engine I recommend)
